Blogsphere is like… the six degress of separation theory with a short cut. No, really it is.
Check it out…
A loooong time ago I was surfing the web, maybe I was reading about Young Adult novels or maybe I was trying to ditch work, I dunno, but anyway, I clicked on this link to the website by a new author whose YA book had been bought by a NY publisher. I checked out his excerpt and really enjoyed it, telling myself, this guy has a great voice. And then, yesterday, Paperback Writer posts this blog entry. As soon as I started reading her description of this new book, I knew this was the same YA author whose excerpt I’d read many months ago. His name is Kristopher Reisz. Check out his website and his excerpt and see if his “voice” doesn’t grab you!
Then there are other benefits of blog hopping…like discovering an up coming new thriller writer.
From another blog I wandered over to Robert Gregory Browne’s website. Robert has sold a thriller to St Martin’s Press entitled Kiss her Goodbye. He’s describing the process of moving toward publication of his novel in early 2007 on his blog. He also has some great articles pertaining to writing as well. I highly recommend checking them out. Oh, and click on the link to read his first three chapters. He likes characterization and I LOVE that!
I’m a big believer in reading outside the genre that you typically write in. If nothing else, it gives you a whole new perspective on writing!
I like this blog title so much I think I’ll make it into its own category. So from now on, whenever I discover a new website or blog I really like, I’ll let you all know about it via my BLOGSPHERE RECOMMENDS category. Next up…J.A. Konrath

Hi Patrice,
I don’t usually post to blogs, but because it’s you, I’ll try this. My first comment went away by itself, so I hope this makes sense. Huggs, P

Cool idea, Patrice. I know I should read more outside the genre, but I don’t. I like my happy endings. :-)

Hi Phyllis! Thanks for posting.
Hey Chey, Yeah, I know what you mean. I love my HEAs too, but there are some really cool books out there.

Hi Kris,
Thanks for stopping by. I was more than happy to post about your book Tripping to Somewhere. I hope those who click over to your website read the excerpt. I think they’ll just just as sucked in by your story!

Thank you so much for the short story. I really enjoyed it. I’ve read Taste for Control several times and each time I thoroughly enjoyed it and discovered something new. You are a truly talented craftswoman. I loved the action between Colt and Elise in Colt’s Choice. At the time I did not realize the same author had written both books. What a superb job you’ve done in two very different milieus.
Again, thank you for the free short story. The cover is very eye catching and professional looking.

Hi Yvonne,
Thanks so much for your comments on My Lucky Charmer, A Taste for Control and Colt’s Choice. They are all different types of stories and I loved creating each one!
