How many manuscripts do you have sitting on your hard drive that are partially written? 5?10?15? It’s amazing how many stories never see the light of day. Was it because we were just learning to write? Or because a story fizzled out before we got past chapter three? Or because the latest trend has already passed us by and the story is woefully out of date? Out of all the stories I’ve written/started I’d say only one couldn’t be sold today. I’m not talking about the writing, that can be fixed (sheesh, some of it needs to be fixed! I’ve learned a lot in 4 years and 11 books later. LOL!), but I was referring to the storyline itself. The story was a historical back when the bodice-rippers were all the rage (in the ’80s), so the entire storyline wouldn’t work today. Good thing I waited a while (like 12 years) to write my next story or I’d probably have a LOT more books that would forever collect dust. LOL!
How many stories do I have that are started and not complete?

Wow, 12 stories…some are novellas, some full length. That seems like a lot but consider the fact that this is over the course of 4 years of writing/learning to write. Any authors reading this post, fess up. How many books aren’t done? And if you’re a reader, are you surprised that so many stories never make it past chapter three?
The upside is…I’ve gone back and am revisting some of these books. There are some gems in here. They just need to be polished so they shine.
I think I have around 8 or 9. I could only recall 7, but I’m sure I am missing a few. *ggg* 4 Contemporaries and 3 paranormals. Of course, I have various story ideas that are at different stages of note taking, but I haven’t really started any of those books. My goal is to go through and finish every partial, even if I can’t sell them, so that I can get them off my mind.
I didn’t count the “brainstorm” ones either, Jordan. LOL! I can see where you’re coming from with the “get them off your mind” comment, too.
