Promoting

Paperback writer had a thought provoking post on self-promotion on her blog today. Heck, she always has thought-provoking posts! LOVE her blog! Anyway, I digress…

My personality is such that I think I’ll always do some promoting (so shoot me, I’m a talker *g*), but this year I have pulled back a bit mainly because I want to focus more on my writing. I hope my readers will appreciate the effort in the end. That said, if you’re an author reading this post and you’re looking for places to promo your books, here are a few suggestions beyond having your own website.

Writerspace
Access Romance
Romance Designs
Fresh Fiction
The Romance Studio

Also offering a newsletter is something else I’ve found readers look for in an author…or at least SOME way to find out the latest news about you since websites aren’t always updated on a daily basis.

  1. I have a love/hate relationship with promoting -
I love to come into contact with my readers, but I hate tooting my own horn. (plus it’s really time-consuming - I agree that you have to scale back sometimes or you just don’t write!)

  2. I’m with you, Sam. It’s not that I don’t like promo per se, but I’d rather be writing and chatting with readers. The time-consumption can be the biggest drain!

  3. I’ve pulled way back, too. Schedule’s just too tight!
